I'm done with livejournal. This post is probably unnecessary, but then so is livejournal, amirite? I've found that LJ doesn't really fit into my patterns of web usage and posting here once or twice a month doesn't really justify maintaining a logon here. Plus, in setting up my new website, I'll have a much better way to broadcast updates, information, and random thoughts in a centralized location.
So get out your rss feed readers and bookmark www.vybeauregard.net. I'm still ironing things out over there, but that's where everything I'm responsible for is going from this point forward.
And if that's too much effort for you, all my rss posts are going to be showing up on facebook, too.
And in case you missed it, here's my tribute to Earth Day. |

There really is a blog out there for every conceivable thing.

"It wasn't until I traveled to Las Vegas in January of this year that discovered that tall or large palm trees were also a problem for me with my Dendrophobia. I struggled with my fear of trees while in Vegas." |

Yeah, it's been a year since the last effit strip went up. In celebration of that, and Kwok's randomly being in town last night on holiday from school in Shanghai, effit proudly presents:

| At the Arby's Drive-Thru |
[Nov. 15th, 2007|06:39 pm] |
Grabbing the daily lunch order for the Finance Dept this afternoon. Arby's today. I head off to the drive-thru.
The total was $21.98. I was given $20.
Fine, I'll settle up when I get back with the food.
As I was getting ready this morning, I noticed that I had 49ยข in change rattling around in my pocket. I figured I'd trade in some of that for a quarter while I was going to the trouble of making up for the missing money handed to me.
I also only had one single in my wallet, so I had to break a five.
So I end up handing the drive-thru attendant $25.23 for a $21.98 bill. She takes a look at what I've handed her and says, "What's this?"
Sorry, did you stop taking U.S. currency here at Arby's? Should I give you one of the empty water bottles here on the floorboard?
I don't care if you can do the math in your head. I'd be surprised if you could pull it off, honestly. But please just enter it into your register before you go try and make me look like the fool. Maybe if you saw that the change you're supposed to give me should be $3.25, you'd understand what I'm trying to accomplish here.
Is the practice of minimizing pocket change honestly so rare that I should be treated like this every time I anticipate change? What do normal people do with change? |
